The JFCS Center for Senior Enrichment at Brookdale Christown is seeking volunteers to help operate the senior center gift shop. There are two two-hour shifts available: 10 a.m.-noon and noon-2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

“We are here to enrich the residents’ lives,” said Sandy Reichsfeld, site manager. “The gift shop provides sundries, toiletries, paper products, gift items, soda and snacks. It is run entirely by volunteers who donate their time to support the residents in their daily lives. Manning the gift shop for a few hours a week is a warm and fulfilling experience.”

“I get to meet such fabulous people,” said gift shop volunteer Andrea Schnee about her experience. “I feel very good. I have done a mitzvah, and I’m helping them get supplies they need and goodies to make their days happier.”

Brookdale Christown is located at 6250 N. 19th Ave., Phoenix. The senior center moved to the senior living facility in March 2011 and began running the gift shop in December of that year. Proceeds benefit the JFCS senior center. Contact Reichsfeld, 602-943-2198.
