Revere Financial Services
Nature of business: We offer financial services, investment and retirement planning, long-term care insurance, as well as life and disability income protection plans.
How long have you been in this business? I have been in this business 34 years, originally as an insurance agent, then as a sales manager, general agent and, for the past 15 years, as an independent broker.
What inspired you to start this field? I had just moved to Arizona from New York, where I had owned a number of retail businesses and did not want to continue in retail. Financial services seemed like a great opportunity to be in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
Background: I am a registered representative and have earned the LUTCF (Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow) and CLTC (Certified in Long-Term Care) designations. I am also a “Life and Qualifying” member of the Million Dollar Round Table, an organization that less than 4 percent of all insurance agents worldwide qualify for.
What obstacles have you overcome in your career? Many. I knew no one when I first moved to Arizona, and making a career change into the financial services industry was not easy. Due to a great deal of hard work, and even more luck, I was able to survive the first year in this wonderful business.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishments are not economic- or career-driven, but rather the two beautiful, independent daughters who have created very successful careers for themselves.
What advice do you have for other businesspeople? Work harder and smarter than everyone else. Unless you have a very unique business or product to represent, you must find your niche and service that market niche better than anyone else.
How do you contribute to the local community, either personally or through your business? We support many local charities, and I have served on the boards of a few nonprofit organizations here in the Valley.
What role does Judaism play in your professional life? A very large role. Upon arriving in Arizona, my wife and I joined the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center as well as a temple. My wife has served as a preschool teacher at a number of temples, and when our children were young, we lived at the “J.”
