JNF inspires volunteer’s work

When someone asks Jewish National Fund (JNF) Arizona board member Toni Dusik about JNF, she can’t hide her enthusiasm. “Within five minutes my voice gets louder and I get more passionate,” she says.

Dusik’s involvement with JNF started seven years ago when Ted Kort, JNF’s former Arizona director, asked her to serve on the organization’s board. She had recently been laid off from her job as the newcomer services coordinator for the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix (the predecessor to the Jewish Community Association of Greater Phoenix) when the recession hit. “It gave me a different opportunity to get more entrenched in the Jewish community here,” Dusik says. “I also have a huge love for Israel.” To date she’s traveled to Israel five times and looks forward to many more trips.
