Brandeis honors Sue Karp, Kathleen Witkin: The Phoenix Chapter of the Brandeis National Committee has named Sue Karp as the recipient of the Carol Kern Sustaining Leadership Award, which is given to a member of the Brandeis National Committee of Phoenix who has been involved for a minimum of 10 years, has taken leadership roles and whose vision has inspired others to be involved in the Phoenix chapter.  

Karp has been a member of the Phoenix chapter for 25 years, during which she has served as a board member, president and on various chapter committees. She also served on the Western Region Board, including one term as president, and on the national Brandeis board.

Kathleen Witkin is the recipient of the Ellen Woodnick Emerging Leadership Award, which is given to an active member who is serving on a committee and who has demonstrated leadership skills and vision.  

For Brandeis, she has been a publicist, editor of the Brandeis Beat and membership vice president, as well as a board member and executive member of the chapter.

The awards will be given at a brunch at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at a private home. The cost is $15. To attend, email Nan Waldman,, by Nov. 16.
