AZJHS to honor Mark Curtis

The Arizona Jewish Historial Society will honor Mark Curtis, Channel 12 News anchorman, with the AZJHS Heritage Award this fall.

Curtis, who made his first appearance on Valley airwaves in June 1980, covered sports for 12 News until 1987 when he moved to Minneapolis. He and his family returned to Phoenix in 1995, and in 2004, he joined Lin Sue Cooney on the anchor desk at Channel 12. He has received six Emmy Awards from the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is a member of Congregation Beth Israel and has volunteered his time to numerous charity fundraising events. He was also the emcee of this year’s Phoenix Holocaust Survivors’ Association Yom Hashoah commemoration.
