Civil rights leader Bill Straus dies

Longtime civil-rights advocate William “Bill” Straus, who led the Arizona chapter of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for 13 years, died Feb. 10, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 68.

“Bill was an incredible speaker who passionately spoke up on behalf of marginalized and vulnerable communities and stood up against anti-Semitism,” ADL Arizona Regional Director Carlos Galindo-Elvira and ADL Arizona Regional Board Chair Greg Rosenthal said in a statement.
