Fred Wabnik was recently elected president of the board of the Jewish Tuition Organization, succeeding Dan Postal. Wabnik has served on the JTO board for two years, is a past board president of Jewish Free Loan and has served on the boards of the American Jewish Committee and Beth El Congregation. Wabnik’s business career was as a bank officer and consultant, specializing in business planning and the re-engineering of business operations to achieve competitive advantage. He has been a Phoenix resident for more than 35 years. The JTO provides need-based scholarships to six Jewish day schools in the Valley.

Meanwhile, the JTO’s executive director, Linda Zell, has been selected for Scottsdale Leadership’s Class XXXI. Each year, Scottsdale Leadership selects applicants with leadership qualities who will further develop their civic passion and have a positive impact on their community. Zell has been executive director of the JTO for the past 10 years. When Zell started with the JTO, its annual fundraising efforts raised about $300,000. This past year, JTO fundraising brought in more than $4 million dollars. “The growth of the JTO is directly related to Linda’s leadership and dedication,” said Wabnik.
