VOTER REGISTRATION

Arizona voters must be:
  • at least 18 years of age
  • a United States citizen
  • an Arizona resident
  • registered 29 days prior to the election
  • not convicted of a felony or treason

    AUTOMOBILES

  • All vehicles located in or commuting to Phoenix or Tucson must be emissions-inspected before they can be registered.
  • When first registering a car, bring it andtitle/bill of sale to any of the 13 inspection stations.
  • If your car is already registered, your registration renewal form will tell you if it needs to be inspected this year.
  • Hours for all inspection stations are 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday.

    AUTOMOBILE REGISTRATION
    To register your car, take the following to the appropriate office:
  • an emissions inspection slip (not needed if car is newer than 1998)
  • previous registration card and license plates
  • an inspection slip from Motor Vehicle Division
  • previous title or a notarized bill of sale with verification that no lien exists against the vehicle
  • proof of insurance

    DRIVER'S LICENSE
    Arizona law requires new residents to obtain an Arizona driver's license; there is no grace period.
    To obtain a license or permit, you need:
  • a previous license or permit and one other form of identification. If between ages 16 and 18, two identification documents, such as birth certificate and Social Security card
  • to pass all required examinations
  • to pay the required fee
  • to provide a registered road test
  • a vehicle that meets insurance requirements
