Monday, Dec. 17

Temple Beth Shalom Sisterhood Concert: noon, Temple Beth Shalom, 12202 N. 101st Ave., Sun City. Temple Beth Shalom will present soloist Michael Hibben. Hibben has sung since childhood and over the years he has appeared in opera companies and sung in casts of Broadway musicals and in choral groups and church choirs around Milwaukee and in the West Valley, including the Temple Beth Shalom Choir. Reservations must be made in advance. Lunch is included. The cost for TBS members is $10; non-members $12. RSVP: 623-977-3240

Mahjong Mondays: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., East Valley JCC, 908 N. Alma School Road, Chandler. Every Monday except on Jewish or legal holidays. You are invited to come and play; no RSVP is necessary. This free program is intended for players with prior experience.

Third Tuesday of each month

Study and Lunch with the Rabbi: noon, Temple Beth Shalom, 12202 N. 101st Ave., Sun City. Join Rabbi Moss for an hour of Torah study. Bring your own lunch.

First & Third Wednesdays

Shabbat

Saturday, Dec. 8

Community Dinner: 7:30 p.m., Chabad of North Phoenix, 22044 N. 44th St., Suite 100, Phoenix. Motzei Shabbat Parents Night Out: music and entertainment, pizza, salad and drinks by Brads Kitchen. Cost is $18 per person.

Chanukah

Through Dec. 9

Carefree Chanukah Celebration: 5:30 p.m., Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion, 101 Easy St., Carefree. Congregants from Temple Chai, as well as members of the Jewish Social Group of Cave Creek and Carefree, will host the menorah lighting every evening beginning on the first night of Chanukah. Local families are invited to attend the event  each evening. There will be a special ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 9 that will include Temple Chai’s rabbi, cantor and choir.

Friday, Dec. 7

Chanukah Shabbat: 11 a.m.-noon, Center for Senior Enrichment, The Palazzo Assisted Living Facility, 6250 N. 19th Ave., Phoenix. Jewish Family & Children’s Service will partner with PJ Library for a special Chanukah Shabbat. Children will  spend time with the seniors as a way for all generations to join together during the holiday season.

Shabbat Dinner: 6:30 p.m., Chabad of Scottsdale 10215 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. Delicious Shabbat dinner, yummy Chanukah treats, games and fun. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children. Sunday, Dec. 9

Levity, Libations and Latkes: 4-6:30 p.m., private home.Sponsored by the Ramat Gan, Israel Committee of Phoenix Sister Cities, there will be a performance by local mentalist Craig Anthony. You also can enjoy Israeli wines and salads, handmade latkes with special toppings, desserts and much more. The suggested donation is $30 per person. Candle Lighting: 5 p.m., Native Grill & Wings, 2110 S. Gilbert Road, Chandler. Join PJ Library to light the last candle on the menorah, listen to a story and make Chanukah crafts. Native Grill will be donating 15 percent of all food sales to the PJ Library.

Monday, Dec. 10
