Pursuing one's dreams and finding strength to live again after a difficult time were two messages of the Phoenix chapter of the Brandeis National Committee's 22nd annual Book and Author Luncheon, which brought 625 attendees to the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix on Feb. 27.

"There seemed to be a theme reverberating throughout the day," Carol Kern, former president of the Brandeis National Committee's national board, wrote in an email. "A message of hope, support and spirituality that helps one get through some of the darkest moments in life."
