Temple Solel will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a number of events this month, beginning with a special Shabbat Shira service focusing on the synagogue’s future, at 6:15 p.m. Friday, April 1.

An oneg will be held at 5:30 p.m. The synagogue has created a website, templesolel50.org, that features  the congregation’s history, photos and more. Below is a list of upcoming events; all will be held at Temple Solel, 6805 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley, unless noted.

Friday, April 15

50th Anniversary Shabbat service: 6:15 p.m. A celebratory service welcomes back former clergy and staff who have served the congregation. An oneg starts at 5:30 p.m.

Reception in courtyard: 7:30 p.m., after the Shabbat service. A festive reception with music and food.

Saturday, April 16

Torah study: 9 a.m. An expanded Torah study will explore an ethical will in the tradition of Abraham, Moses and King David, who left life instructions to be followed after their passing. The session will help participants address the fundamentals of their life. Refreshments will be served. Reservations: Chelsi Johnson, cjohnson@templesolel.org

Celebratory party: 7:30 p.m. at a private home in Paradise Valley. The event will include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and music. Cost is $150. Purchase tickets at templesolel50.org

Sunday, April 17

Celebration at Solel: noon-4 p.m. Free afternoon includes a carnival, vendor marketplace, art display, music and food for sale. The art sale, “Art & Soul at Solel,” will feature Solel Art Showcase artists and a raffle featuring framed giclees by the nationally known artist Art Secunda and five pieces by temple artists. The Art @Solel Committee started its Art Showcase in 2012 to highlight the congregation’s artists and to encourage a dialogue about art in the community. The program funds an annual art scholarship for high school seniors who are temple members.  Reservations by April 8: Chelsi Johnson, cjohnson@templesolel.org
