Holocaust survivors’ grandchildren, equipped with vast archive, keep stories alive

Beckah Restivo is glad she attended college in Washington, D.C. One of the primary reasons is George Washington University’s proximity to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, where her fascination with Holocaust history blossomed.

As the world marked Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) last week, staffers at the museum say Restivo represents a growing phenomenon: third-generation Holocaust survivors fascinated by – and determined to honor – their grandparents’ experience.
