A sunny Desert Gathering celebrates Jewish music, community

The fourth annual Desert Gathering Jewish Music Fest was the first held entirely in daylight, and it displayed the challenges and rewards of mounting a community-focused event.

The event yesterday (Nov. 6) was held in its original scenic spot, at the amphitheater facing the pond in Phoenix’s Steele Indian School Park. As there would be in any festival setting, there was always a bit of traffic from the amphitheater out to the food trucks, vendors and restrooms, but for the most part, the shorter running time of the festival seemed to encourage people to hang out for the whole four-hour show.
