I. Milestone photography guidelines

·         All milestone photos must be submitted by attaching to the appropriate Web form. Please do not submit the photo and announcement form separately.

·         Photos must be high resolution, at least 300 dpi at a minimum of 2 by 2 inches. There should be no visible blemishes on the photo, such as lines or noticeable pixelation. For questions on how to scan or obtain a high-resolution photo, please consult a photography or imaging professional.

·         If using a digital camera, set to the highest resolution possible before taking the photo.

·         Faces must be centered and in clear focus. No far-away shots, please.

·         Couples should be posed with their heads touching. Photos where there is little height difference work best for our format.

·         Only the child or couple may be pictured. No other people and no pets, please.

·         Please use the child’s full name or the couple’s last name(s) when naming the file.

II. Upload instructions

1. Locate where the file is stored on your computer. It must be a JPEG (.jpg) file (most digital cameras produce this type of file by default).

Move the photo to your desktop or to a new file folder if it will make it easier to locate later.

If the file is located on your digital camera, consult your manual to learn how to transfer the photo to your hard drive.

2. Go to the form on the Jewish News Web site. After you have finished entering all the information on the form, click the “Browse” button on the Web form. This will bring up a list of files on your hard drive. Find the photo file and select it.

3. Once the name of the file is showing in the “File” box, click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.
